3D Decorative Gypsum Panel Mix Recipe
REQUIRED MATERIALS
- 5 liters of water
- 6 scoops of casting plaster (we recommend Siniat Adera Stucco or Rigips Model Gips)
- Fiberglass mesh or chopped fiberglass strands
- A small amount of sunflower oil (optional) (for lubricating the edges of the mold)
PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Mold preparation:
- make sure the mold is clean;
- apply a thin layer of oil to the mold edges using a sponge, then lightly spray the inside of the mold with water;
- prepare all molds in advance, as plaster sets quickly and must be worked with without delay.
2. Material preparation:
- pour 5 liters of water into a bucket, then add 6 scoops of casting plaster;
- let the plaster soak in the water for one minute, then mix it thoroughly using a mortar mixer;
- once the mixture is completely homogeneous, pour it into the molds until they are half full;
- place the piece of fiberglass mesh (cut to the size of the mold), then fill the mold completely with the remaining mixture (if you choose chopped fiberglass strands instead of mesh, they should be mixed together with the water and plaster);
- gently tap the mold against the work surface until the air bubbles rise to the surface;
- after 2-3 minutes, brush the back of the panel to create a better bonding surface for installation.
3. Demolding:
- leave the panel to dry on a flat surface and remove it from the mold once it has hardened (drying time varies depending on room temperature, approximately 10-30 minutes). If it has not hardened sufficiently, it may break;
- to remove the panel, turn the mold upside down onto a flat surface, gently loosen the edges, then carefully lift the mold away;
- after demolding, leave the panel on a flat surface until it is completely dry and turns white.
Cleaning:
Clean the molds thoroughly with water and white vinegar, then rinse them well. No plaster residue should remain on the mold, otherwise the panel may stick to the mold during the next casting.
WARNING! DO NOT SCRATCH, HIT, OR LEAVE THE PLASTIC MOLDS EXPOSED TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT FOR LONG PERIODS. WHEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED, THE PLASTIC MOLDS CAN WITHSTAND A VERY LARGE NUMBER OF CASTINGS.
INSTALLATION
- plan the panel layout on the wall in advance, taking electrical outlets into account, and cut the panels beforehand where outlets or wall edges require it;
- attach the panels to the wall using gypsum board adhesive (we recommend Rigips Rifix);
- after installation, fill the joints with universal acrylic sealant (we recommend Bison), smooth the excess with your finger, then wipe the surface with a damp sponge;
- allow it to dry completely before painting.
