Outdoor Concrete Mix Recipe
REQUIRED MATERIALS
- 4 liters of water
- 1 bucket (10 liters) of 4-8 mm decorative marble aggregate
- 1/2 bucket (10 liters) of white cement (we recommend Holcim Blanco Plus)
- 1/2 bucket (10 liters) of sand
- iron oxide pigment (for color)
- fiberglass mesh or chopped fiberglass strands
PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Mold preparation:
- wash the mold with water and make sure it is clean;
2. Material preparation:
- place the water, decorative marble aggregate, cement, and sand into a concrete mixer and mix thoroughly. If you do not have a concrete mixer, place the materials in a bucket and mix them using a mortar mixer;
- to color the slabs, add iron oxide pigment until the desired color is achieved and mix thoroughly;
- once the mixture is completely homogeneous, pour the material into the molds until they are half full;
- place the piece of fiberglass mesh (cut to the size of the mold) into the mold, then fill the rest of the mold with the remaining material (if you choose chopped fiberglass strands instead of mesh, they should be mixed together with the other materials);
- gently tap the mold against the work surface until air bubbles appear on the surface, or if you have a vibrating table, vibrate only until the material is evenly leveled inside the mold;
- cover the molds with plastic foil and do not leave them in direct sunlight. The drying process should not be too fast, otherwise the concrete may crack;
3. Demolding:
- leave the mold to dry on a flat surface and remove the slab only when it is dry (drying time varies depending on the temperature, approximately 24-48 hours). If it is not sufficiently hardened, it may break;
- to remove the slab from the mold, turn the mold upside down onto a flat surface, gently loosen the edges, then carefully lift the mold upward;
- after demolding, leave the slab to dry on a flat surface until it is completely dry and reaches its final white color.
4. Cleaning:
Clean the molds thoroughly with water and vinegar, then rinse them well. No material residue should remain on the mold, otherwise the slab may stick to the mold during the next casting.
WARNING! DO NOT SCRATCH, HIT, OR LEAVE THE PLASTIC MOLDS EXPOSED TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT FOR LONG PERIODS. WHEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED, THE PLASTIC MOLDS CAN WITHSTAND A VERY LARGE NUMBER OF CASTINGS.
INSTALLATION
- determine in advance how the slabs will be installed on the wall or fence. If necessary, they can be cut using an angle grinder;
- attach the slabs to the wall using ceramic tile adhesive (we recommend Ceresit CM11 for indoor and outdoor use);
- after installation, fill the joints with grout;
